What a glorious spring day today!
The sky was sunny and blue.
The air was warm and not hot.
A field trip was calling.
I was rested and had a good amount of gas in the car, so off I went.
It was a little over an hour's drive to a place called Historic Bridge Park.
Tucked next to the Kalamazoo River, the park was home to restored road bridges from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The marsh marigolds were blooming.
The park wasn't very crowded and the people were not intrusive.
I enjoyed a nice conversation with a couple from New York state.
It was an easy walk around ... until I tried a short cut. It looked like a planned path!
It was quite steep but I made it to the top without a scrape.
Thank goodness, because a fall could have been disastrous.
Because the day was so nice, I took the long way home so I could drive with the window down.
It took me longer to get home but I enjoyed seeing the freshly turned farmland.
The redbud trees in bloom.
Trillium carpeting the forest floor.
There was only one thing that kept the day from being totally perfect.
No, not the fact that I was alone.
It was a road sign.
It lied! 🤣

Sounds like a neatly perfect day, lacking only a convertible to drive, and a fun companion.
It was even warm enough to shed the clothes ... if there had been the right spot.
What is the saying? It is better to travel, than arrive! Some sayings are plain daft!!
To be fair, since I don't reach climax easily, I am all about the journey! 😎

Except for that foolish trudge up that steep and slippery hill, I don't call what I do "hiking". But grab your camera and get outside ... and show us on your blog what you found.

There were only 5 and they looked a lot alike to me. Mostly Pratt truss.

Mr Pratt was a genius, years ahead of his time. His trusses are used to this day.
Sounds like you had a magical albeit anticlimactic day!
Fortunately, the anticlimactic cloud was on the drive to the park. It was uphill from there.

I did a fun little whirlwind road trip yesterday myself. And weather was similar to yours...Warm sunshine with nice breeze.

@superbjversion2 Over near Kalamazoo!! I had to look it up because I probably went past it on the way to and from the In-Laws!!
This bridge was built in 1886. The hill I climbed is behind it.

@69ereatwetpussy They've been restored but with varying amounts of work needed. I walked over all 5.
