Given today's Half Nekkid Wednesday's theme is August 06: Swimwear, I'm going to tell you about an incident that happened to me while in the French city of Lyon to take in two stages of the Tour de France.
It was a very hot day in Lyon. GIRLFRIEND 14 and I decided to go swimming in the city's riverside lido. Outside the lido, we joined a very long queue. There were two police officers and two security guards searching bags. I thought that they are searching bags to stop people taking food and drink into the lido, so I resigned myself to having my cans of drink confiscated.
After nearly an hour of queuing, a security guard frisked my bag and then asked me to remove the bag’s contents. He then asked me whether I wanted to swim; I said yes. He then asked me to show him my swimwear. I held up my black swimming shorts. The guard said that I was not allowed to swim in my shorts; he then escorted me back onto the street. My crime was that I had a pair of swimming shorts and not a pair of swimming trunks.
A new law had just been passed requiring men to wear swimming trunks in public swimming pools. I guess the security guard was very concerned that my exceeding long willy would make an appearance to unsuspecting swimmers in the lido!

PS. This was not the first time I have been banned from a swimming pool. Once wearing my Speedo swimming trunks, I was banned from the pool after the letter ‘S’ had fallen off my trunks!

Stupid question but what is a lido? Was it a pool, or a swimming area in the river?
A lido is an outdoor swimming pool, often unheated, with lots of lounging space around it.

That's one experience I don't want to repeat.
When I was a teenager, they had built what was called a water flume in which you had to walk up four flights of stairs and the you took turns going down a slide that emptied into a big pool. It was fun in the Florida heat. There was this drop dead gorgeous brunette with a brazillian tanga swimsuit. You could see her hairy pubic area because that area was being covered with her choice of bathing suit.
We couldn't stop gawking at her, but the cops were called and she was escorted out of there. Eventually that place got torn down and they ended up putting a Park Plaza Hotel on the property.
I love water flumes. My favourite is Wild River in Skegness.
The rules of public sites are supposed to satisfy everyone, and so they often result in absurd decisions... and end up satisfying almost no one. 😄
I now understand the reasoning behind the rule but I didn't understand back then.
Believe it or not, our community pool does not allow cotton material. Not sure why really. I GUESS it mucks up the filters somehow.
