Maple syrup is my go to. I do make blueberries pancakes. Love them and also love spreading some blueberry compote on them. I also loves slice strawberries and whip cream. I also enjoy chocolate chip pancakes. Pancakes and waffles are comfort foods for me.
@spunkycumfun I have a Native American friend who makes a bunch of different things with blackcurrants, chokecherries, sumac, and such. He makes a pancake topper, that is to die for with blackcurrants. But don't get it on your clothing, it's almost an industrial dye. When you see Native American colored porcupine quills, that are hard like a fingernail, now you know how they did it in the 1700's.
@spunkycumfun It was the meat taco one had to avoid. Where I grew up, my experience with Native Americans seems to have been much different than most peoples. When I was in HS, the Native American girls/women were strictly off limits to non-Native guys. Other than that, everybody seemed to get along fairly well. It didn't help that some of the women were freaking beautiful and dang dick teasers. There was a story, urban legend, about a white guy dating a Native girl. A bunch of Braves grabbed him, tied a rope to his dick, and a cinder block, and tossed the block over a railing on a river bridge. In the "movie" version of this, the rope was too long, in the local version, it wasn't.
Being Canadian, of course it has to be pure maple π syrup.
We always have pancakes when camping.....I like to roll-up a sausage in the pancake
@spunkycumfun don't think we needed the nudge or any winks haha. π
I make cinnamon roll pancakes, make a syrup of melted vanilla frosting and a ton of cinnamon. I use two pitchers, one for the traditional pancake, then a thin swirl of the frosting syrup. It will settle into the original pancake and get almost crispy when flipped.
Mine are never this pretty or large, but this is from the "originators" website I stole the idea from.
Although I like pancakes occasionally, recently waffles have become my Fav, after I was finally able to master one of the motel waffle machines and actually get a whole waffle out of it in one piece, mainly because some kid stood behind me and walked me through the process. I like the crunchy texture. But syrup is still my mainstay for a topping.
Those hotel waffle makers are great
@bignicktx I've been looking for a smaller version for home.
@bignicktx, @spunkycumfun Lots in New England and Canada.
@spunkycumfun Well, if supplies run low we could always switch to Marmite.....
@LovingOral1964 No I'm from the US, but have worked abroad most of my life. I have had Marmite on toast, and to the dismay of my UK cohorts like to spread a little jam on. The Australians have something similar called Vegemite.
@LovingOral1964 Yes, it is quite similar. To me anyway.
Maple syrup is my standard, but recently I've been indulging in a dutch baby pancake with blueberries...squirted with lemon juice right as it comes out of the oven. Delicious!
By the way, what the heck is squirty cream? It sounds kind of dirty...
Another great battle here, there are so many great choices!!
What is your most and least favourite pancake toppings? I really
enjoy butter on my pancakes more than anything else. But that
wasn't one of the choices here.
How good are you at making pancakes? When I had my griddle
I enjoyed making them now hubby does as our stove burner
leans.
Will you be eating pancakes on Pancake Day/Shrove Tuesday?
Probably not as it's laundry day. We usually have pancakes on
the weekends if we make them.
If I am only putting one thing on a pancake, it is butter
Mapleee Syrup
But I love too... white cream π¨.. sugar and caramel sauce and Nutella
Fruity jams or marmalade are the best. Or apricot or raspberry/blackberry/boysenberry syrup. Our family also used to use Karo syrup (corn syrup), as maple syrup gives everyone in our extended family the runs... < sigh >
Great. Now I'm hungry. Lol.
I wanted to choose maple sugar AND bacon. Though bacon is more of a side.
Bacon,must be smoked, avocado and a poached egg or two. Maple syrup and some more bacon then a hollandaise sauce.
@spunkycumfun Exactly.
Lousy at making pancakes so don't do it. Only time might have if at IHOP. Haven't been in while. Heavy butter they at IHOP has a variety of flavored syrups which always use 3 types. If had toppings would be strawberry or blueberry. Do fix waffles from box at home usually heavy butter and maple syrup. Might have side dishes of bacon sausage ham eggs scrambled with onions mushrooms pepper ham cheese black pepper eggs covered in Salsa. Yes people in lowlands make a good pancake and waffle. Do think of as breakfast food . Been long time since been to IHOP yet order Spanish or western omlett with hash Browns and get pancakes with. In short summary don't make butter and syrup.
I like to call them flapjacks! I picked the strawberry topping. π
Strawberries are the best
@spunkycumfun can't pass up a good pancake conversation. It's my weakness
Ligonberry!
I often eat pancakes with maple syrup for dinner. But, any one of those sound delicious.
Your title here had me puzzled at first. I was thinking "I only know ONE kind of pancake!"
What is your most and least favorite pancake topping? - Most: Maple syrup, with some butter, Least: Anything else.
How good are you at making pancakes? - I'm decent. The trick is letting the griddle get up to temperature, and accepting that first batch will be less than ideal.
Will you be eating pancakes on Pancake Day/Shrove Tuesday? - Probably not.
@spunkycumfun
Very Common! π
Syrup has to have butter with it... π
You're missing some goodness then, similar to a very good woman π
Simple tastes here....plain ole buttermilk pancakes...with true maple syrup. I often go to the local maple farms and watch their process and have breakfast.....but of course.
I won't be eating pancakes on the day. Sometime in March tho, before the sugaring season ends, i will have some.
Yes....ive made pancakes all of my adulthood. Silver dollar sized, to one huge one...just for me. I like them light n fluffy with melted butter and mostly syrup, sometimes honey ~
I am old fashioned, just maple syrup and bacon for me but I found this to be very regional. Especially traveling in the North East US as they are very particular about specific syrups and specific fruits on their pancakes.
But anyway I love to taste π π π π all the flavour countries of pancakes π₯
All pancakes are good!
@spunkycumfun Absolutely
@spunkycumfun I grew up with blueberries on pancakes, you open a can of blueberry pie filling warm it up on the stove.
