In THE BATTLE OF THE COCKTAILS, an Old Fashioned narrowly won the poll, with a Margarita, Cuba Libre, Bloody Mary and Whiskey Sour close on its heels.
It's now the turn of coffee to do battle! This poll is about different types of coffee. and not about different types of coffee beans, whether arabica, excelsa, liberica or robusta beans. The poll is also not about where coffee is grown (eg Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya), where coffee is ground or blended (eg France, Italy, The Netherlands) and what company is grinfing or blending the coffee (eg Folgers, Kenco, Lavazza, Nescafé, Starbucks).
I'm excluding organic and decaffeinated coffee. I'm also excluding the coffee drinks with syrups, essences, toppings and sprinkles added to them. But I'm including liqueur coffees even though compiling the poll would have been much easier without them. That's how fair I am!
My favourite coffees are Americano (with milk), Café au Lait, Espresso (always a Double Espresso if I need waking up quick) and Mocha (coffee and chocolate make for a great combination), with Turkish Coffee (sweetened but no milk) being my best coffee - see photo below. I love the strong coffee flavour of a Turkish Coffee (or Greek Coffee), I love its thickness of the drink and I love how the coffee grounds stick to my teeth - a Turkish Coffee is always served with a glass of water to swill your mouth after drinking the coffee and sometimes a tooth pick.
There aren't many coffees I don't like, but my least favourite coffees are Cappuccino (too much froth and not enough coffee) and Iced Coffee (too cold), with Latte (far too milky) being my worst coffee.
What is your most and least favourite types of coffee?
If you are a coffee drinker, how many cups or mugs of coffee do you have a day? Is your coffee drunk black or white, unsweetened or sweetened?
And, how do you make your coffee - brewed, percolated, filtered, dripped, pressed, potted, canned, instant or whatever? Do you own a coffee machine?
I love coffee. I can't start the day without at least two mugs of coffee. For me, when working, it was no coffee, no workee. Now retired from work, it's no coffee, no playee!
I probably drink about ten coffees a day - always white (with creamer not milk) and always unsweetened, unless it's a Turkish or Greek coffee when I will add sugar. For my sins, I make my coffee from instant coffee granules. Because I like my coffee strong, American coffee doesn't work for me - Starbucks sucks! I prefer European coffee, especially Dutch and Italian coffee. My everyday coffee is made from Douwe Egberts coffee, a Dutch brand of instant coffee granules. With instant coffee granules, I have no need to pretend to be a barista tending a coffee machine.
Below is a poll where you can anonymously select your most favourite type of coffee. Unfortunately only one pick is allowed in the poll. Please remember only vote for 'other' if you most like another type of coffee not listed; if you don't like any type of coffee, please don't vote.
But a poll on this site can only have 20 answer options. There was no room for Absinthe Coffee, Affogato (an Italian dessert coffee), Australian Coffee (coffee with rum), Barraquito (coffee with Licor 43), Bombón, Bulletproof (coffee with grass-fed yak butter), Café com Cheirinho (a Portuguese coffee with wine or brandy), Calypso Coffee (aka Jamaican Coffee or Spanish Coffee; coffee with Kahlúa, rum or Tia Maria), Caribbean Coffee (a coffee cocktail with rum and amaretto), Corfu Coffee (coffee with kumquat liqueur), Cubano (aka Cuban espresso), Drambuie Coffee, Egg Coffee (a Vietnamese coffee drink), Eggnog Latte, English Coffee (coffee with gin), Espressino (espresso with steamed milk and cocoa powder), Friar's Coffee (aka Friar-Joe; coffee with Frangelico), Galão (espresso and foamed milk; a Portuguese coffee drink), Golden Irish Coffee (an Indian coffee made with Irish whiskey), Gommosa (espresso poured over a marshmallow), Grand French Coffee (coffee with Grand Marnier), Guillermo (espresso with slices of lime and sometimes milk), Hafuch (aka Upside Down Coffee; a popular Israeli coffee drink), Hasseltse Koffie (a Dutch coffee with jenever), Kaffeekask (a Swedish coffee with schnapps), Lungo (aka Long-Pull Espresso), Manilo (espresso with milk), Marocchino (espresso with steamed milk and cocoa powder), Mazagran (made with espresso with lemon, sugar and sometimes rum), Minato (double espresso with warm milk), Monk's Coffee (coffee with Bénédictine), Mustang Coffee (a Nepalese liqueur coffee), Norman Coffee (coffee with calvados), Paraguayan Coffee (a sweet coffee with rum), Rüdesheimer Kaffee (a German sweet coffee with brandy), Seville Coffee (coffee with Cointreau), Shin Shin coffee (coffee with rum), Tilburg Coffee (coffee with a Dutch herbal liqueur), Touba (a Senegalese coffee drink) and Witch's Coffee (coffee with Strega).
I think Americano will win the poll. But, hedging my bets somewhat, Café au Lait, Cappuccino, Espresso and Mocha may figure strongly.
Please see the first comment below to see what has won each battle of the food and drinks so far.

I can't believe how far behind I am reading followed posts. I did not vote but I drink my coffee black, prefer a light to medium roast, buy whole beans and use an automatic drip machine. I cannot abide Starbuck's coffee with their burn't roast. I suppose after people add all the sugary flavored crap they need some way for them to say: "Oh yeah, there is some coffee in there."
Don't drink coffee. If did would have to be 1/3 cream and Kahlua.if had to drink would be Cafe du Monde. Eat some Beignets with
I don't drink coffee. Pa said it would put hair on my chest. And I have never wanted hairy breasts. LOL
Not a coffee drinker. My preference is hot or cold tea, especially an iced chai tea latte.
I like an iced, decaf, with sugar free vanilla and half and half. My taste has changed since I have gone sugar/caf free.
@spunkycumfun welcome. I do enjoy the sugar free very much and I had to give up caf. It wasn’t a choice. I’ve been here before just under another name.
@spunkycumfun Livin_my_Life

@spunkycumfun you definitely a somebody for sure. I have enjoyed your blog for awhile now. I just didn’t enjoy the drama that came with this site for I left to find some inner peace. I was working on Myself!

@spunkycumfun certainly but where there is?
If I’m at a coffee shop I order a double macchiato (way less milk than a latte or cappuccino, so you can actually taste the coffee).
At home I have a Hario V60 pourover setup that makes fairly strong coffee.
In Japan, the difference between cafe au lait and latte is the coffee beans used, regular or espresso. I'm good with either.
I usually drink my coffee black if I brew it myself, but it's always latte if I get my coffee from the convenience store. I don't have instant coffee in my house. At work, I have a paperless filter I use to make coffee. I saw a Japanese teapot that was made for brewing coffee. I was thinking about getting one, but the 90 bucks for a teapot kinda made me have second thoughts.
Fuck coffee and all these asshats that have tried to convince us that we can't live without "designer" coffee.
What is your most and least favourite types of coffee?
My favorite is simply a plain black coffee- no Starbucks though. That tastes burnt. But I do like a Starbucks mocha on occasion.
If you are a coffee drinker, how many cups or mugs of coffee do you have a day? Is your coffee drunk black or white, unsweetened or sweetened?
I used to drink lots of coffee but because of that it began to taste bad. I switched to tea and after a year coffee began to taste good again.
And, how do you make your coffee - brewed, percolated, filtered, dripped, pressed, potted, canned, instant or whatever? Do you own a coffee machine?
Pam makes it- dripped, just like most of the restaurants here.
Another great battle you have here. Unfortunately
I will have to pass on this one as I can't drink
coffee's or teas.
I am sure you will get a lot of great responses
to this one.
I hope your Friday is a great start to a wonderful
weekend..
I can only drink about 2 cups a day, quitting by 11 AM, or I'll never get to sleep.
You're right - Starbucks sucks! And increasingly, that's all you can find at hotel buffets, etc.
