She's cranky, folks!
I sandwiched a vacation day around my long, holiday weekend, and managed to get a 4 day weekend out of it...
It was amazing!
I spent the first 2 of those days on the shores of Lake Michigan.... And, aside from the angry sunburn, it was definitely the best medicine for all my ails.
I can't even describe how therapeutic it is to explore those sandbars and float in the water, to walk the beach and feel the waves as they gently crash upon your feet.
It was just what this girl needed!
I did come away from it with a painful sunburn, but the sting has begun to subside.
I knew, on day 2, when I'd forgotten my sunscreen in the car, that I was likely going to come away from it with a burn. I'd walked about a mile down the beach, so going back to the car was not going to be happening.
I would just have to be careful and wear the cover up!
The thing is, once you get out in the water....
Time just seems to fly by.
I had planned on wading around, checking out the sandbar for a few minutes, and heading back to shore.
No big deal, just a little sun, then I'd put on the cover up....
An hour and a half later, my towel and belongings were merely a dot down the shore from me, and I was realizing I need to get out of the sun.
I made my way back, and put on my hat and cover up, but it was already too late.
My shoulders were starting to feel a little hot, my 'Falcon Crest' getup wouldn't be turning back time and changing that fact.
I wore the getup in the water and floated for another hour or so, I just wasn't ready to call it a day.
By the time I made it back to shore 4 and a half hours had passed.....
And I was living my best 'Falcon Crest' life!
I just needed a glass of wine....
Alas, that was then, and this is now, and I'd better start gettting ready for work.
Ugh....

Beaches are a great place to relax. Sounds like you both needed it and got a nice bit of it. May your sunburn subside quickly.

Last night went well. I didn't wake up til 4am, which for me, is good.

I wear rash guards to keep from burning while in the water.
I had to Google rash guards.... LOL I think I could use those, myself.

It was really nice to just get away. I've been needing it. The burn isn't so bad today... Thank God. The sting is gone but I'm still really red.
Careful with those sunburns! Other than that happy you had a nice relaxing day.
I usually have my sunscreen, I’ve learned my lessons over the years. Time just got away from me…

@secret_lade NW MI was therapy for me. Aside from a little bit of overnight rain it was beautiful. Being the nostalgic goof that I am, I went by all the places I used to live in TC. I went into a couple of bars that I frequented. They haven't changed a bit over 25 years. I don't know if that is comforting or kind of pitiful.
I can fully appreciate the impossibility of leaving a Lake Michigan sandbar on a beautiful summer day. Sunburn is worth it.
It was so beautiful. There were 3 of them and they just went on forever. I walked quite a distance and still hadn’t gound the end.

I slathered it on the first day of my burn. I felt like I was on fire that night…. Holy cow.
I remember getting the tops of my feet burned one time. Wearing shoes to work was really painful.
I’ve done that before, too. Yikes!! Painful.
@secret_lade Glad you got away for a bit and hope the pain does not last too long.
@Notaname99 the sting is gone now, which is good. Still pretty red on my shoulders, though. Still time to stay out of the sun.
Mondays are such a come down after a great weekend.
