I broke out of the house yesterday.
It was overcast, and slightly rainy, not too hot that I wouldn't want to trek up and down a giant sand dune....
Warm enough that I could wear shorts and sandals.
So, I ventured on over to the Sleeping Bear Dunes area.
It wasn't my first time experiencing the dunes, but still breathtaking, none-the-less.
Munching on Skittles the entire trip there, I was harvesting a pretty good sugar high by the time I rolled into the parking lot at the Maritime Boat Museum.
"Oooh! I'm here! Oh my God, how cute is that general store?? I've got to peee!!! Oh my God, I see a public restroom...."
Hopping out of the car, I slung my purse across my shoulder, folded down the collar on my fleece, and smoothed out my top.
Hearing a tiny, little 'plinking' sound, I looked down to discover a yellow Skittle bouncing around my feet and rolling across the parking lot.
"Of course... At least it wasn't trapped in my bra, creating a sticky mess."

It wasn't the first time I'd been to the Dunes, but it was the first time I'd actually gone to the museums and visited the Point Betsie Lighthouse.
A MUST DO if you are like me, and love those local museums with the old-timey photos and history displays set up in original buildings with actual artifacts from back in the day.
In the blink of an eye, I'd spent 2 hours traipsing about a tiny little collection of buildings and wandering the beach.
Venturing next to the Dunes, proper, I stared in awe.
So beautiful.
Absolutely amazing.
I hauled my exhausted ass higher up the sandy dune and snapped a million pictures.
Worth it!
The beach was so far down.....
Before I knew it, I'd spent another 2 hours there!
My last stop was the Point Betsie Lighthouse. I'd spent too much time at my other stops, so it was already closed by the time I got there....
But I still managed to get some amazing photos.
One more lighthouse to check off my list!
By the time I got home, it was after 10 o'clock, but it had been a good day.
Overcast and rainy, or not....
Oh, one more thing, be kind. 
I didn't wear any makeup yesterday, and, I'm including a photo of me. Eeek!

How often do idiots get stuck at the bottom regardless there’s a warning sign?
Often! There were 36 rescues in 2024. The rescuers have to rapel down from the top to get the ones that need rescuing. I have gone down to the bottom before, and back up to the top and it was killer - and I was still in my 20's at that time. The trip down is a piece of cake. The trip up is nearly verticle and it's dune sand, so you are forever slipping back down a few feet.
I've been to Point Betsie. Go back and do the tour; it's beautiful inside.
Really! That will be first on my list of things to do next time I’m in that area.

I love doing this kind of stuff - I really do find those little museums totally fascinating. Most of the time I'm wondering how people survived back then!
In my youth (20's) I went down to the lake and climbed back up Sleeping Bear. For every 3 steps up you slide back down 2 in the sand. That was enough. I did it once and survived to tell the tale. I love all of those places.
I climbed down in the 20's too. Only, my ex husband and I did it with our 4 year old too! He ended up carrying my oldest on his shoulders. There is no way I'd be able to do that today..... I'd be paying $3000 for that rescue!
Love this. We need to take the time for these little adventures. I love light houses. About 15 years ago, hubs and I drove up the coast of Maine and saw like ten really cool ones.. loved it. I've never been to any kind of Dunes. Very nice. And you are beautiful. Thank for sharing. Lol about the skittles...i was wondering if one fell out of your bra at the end of the day. 😆 🤣 😂
No, thankfully, no Skittles hitched a ride in my bra all day. LOL I love lighthouses too. When I was in North Carolina, I visited 4 of them when I was there, as well. So fascinating, all with their own histories and unique stories.
Those are some great photos. I'm glad to hear you had a good time and there was no crazy shenanigans happening to you. You look good with no makeup on and you seem to be content, a very nice picture.
Thank you. I venture out a little bit more, now. with a bare face... But I still feel self conscious when I do. I have light eyelashes, so you can barely see them, making my eyes look small.

After the week I'd had, I needed some peace and alone time. Nothing recharges me better than the beach.
