The Spawn and I went to the mall last night....
She immediately ditched me the moment we arrived, but the thought of shopping with her was nice while it lasted!
I was on a mission, though, so I chose not to let my total abandonment destroy my mission.
My mission was clear.
Find jeans that fit, flatter, and show off my 40lb weight loss.
The hitch?
They had to be work appropriate.
I'm here to tell you, folks....
That is not an easy task!
I stood there, in a sea of distress and holes.... Raw hems and cropped legs as far as the eye could see.
The brutality of it all was alarming.
And then I saw it!
From the corner of my eye, I saw a hodge podge mess of clothing dangling from a circular rack, a clearance rack.
"Ah, shit. A clearance rack. I can't NOT look at the clearance rack."
A tractor beam was pulling me toward it, there is just no fighting the draw of a clearance rack. I was already standing at it, sliding hangers back and forth when I made the decision to go check it out.
I had slid a black shirt, hanging by only a drawstring from it's hanger, to the left when a beam of light shone down from the heavens....
Illuminating the worlds most perfect pair of work jeans.
No holes....
No distressing....
Washed out but in a classy way....
I snatched those jeans up and away I went!
Not going to lie, I tried them on the minute I got home and wanted to cry tears of joy.
They fit amazing and looked great with every top I picked out.
For a mere $15, my whole outlook on myself changed.
I could see all the hard work I've put in, watching what I eat and hitting the gym.
While I'm still nowhere near where I would like to be, I can see my progress.
And, it's amazing.

As I started to lose weight , I bought one shirt and I pair of jeans. That shirt and jeans were my first goal and a reward.
When I reached that goal , I bought the next size down as my next goal and reward. I keep doing this until I hit my final goal.
That is when I went out and bought a complete new set of clothing.
I went from wearing 3x shirts and 46 inch pants to large shirts and 36 pants.
What gets me is that sizing is never consistent in clothing. One line of shirts my say large but is real medium . Or about pants that say relax fit but really not.

You shop like my s/o. She makes a beeline for clearance and buys without trying anything on. You’re luckier than her because half the time those pearls of perfect price don’t fit.

You didn't try on the jeans before you bought them? Does the store not have a fitting room?
I remember the joy I felt when I found a pair of jeans at wally world that fit perfectly. I'm glad I bought 2 pairs since I couldn't find them again when I went back a few years later.
I never try stuff on at the store. Everything always looks different when I’m at home in front of my own mirror. As long as I can return the item, I’ll do it at home.

It’s been a slow process, but I’m trying to be healthy in it all and I want to be able to sustain my changes. It’s not always easy.

Thank you! After all my struggles with weight, I have shed many tears as I outgrew stuff. Bathing suits are the worst.
