I stood alone in a large white room over at the Bloom Art Gallery in Old Montreal. It was closing soon, and Deborah was late. I was facing one of those confusing "theorist pieces" by the Russian painter Kandinsky when she surprised me. Deborah nuzzled up and draped her arms around my neck. Gucci Guilty and warm lemon lip gloss interrupted my fog.
"I LOVE those diagonal harmonies," she whispered into my ear.
"Diagonal harmonies?"
"Yes, Paul. Focus on all those intersecting lines and angles; colours crashing into each other at odd degrees.
I tried to see what Deborah saw.
"See how nothing runs parallel? Everything's pushing against something else. That's where the tension lives. That's where it sings."
I looked at the painting I'd been staring at for ten minutes and realized I hadn't heard a fucking thing.
"What harmonies?"
"Oh, Paul, can't you see them? They are so obvious."
The security guard, over at the back of the room, cleared her throat.
"Come on, Deborah, let's go. I know a bar on St. Denis where they've arranged the tables diagonally."
Deborah laughed and poked me. "By the way, I really like your new smile Paul. Who taught you that?"
Her lips met mine before I could answer.
Deborah squeezed my arm and leaned her head against my shoulder. We walked out into the chilly Montreal night along the bumpy cobblestone street. Everything felt perfectly off balance... in exactly the right way.
... this is what that security guard probably wears underneath her uniform...

It is said that "every pic tells a story" Paul, and guess that could be true for "art or mod art" as well? Cept, it is also true that everybody can look and see something different when looking at the same pic - of course some mod art is def way out there - the pic you put up, well, a maths geek might appreciate it! The other pic you put up - great to have sexy security guards - hopefully also in the male form!

I believe that much of what is called ‘modern art’ is neither art nor modern. Doodles were invented the first time a bored human found themselves in a sand desert with a stick in hand.
There doesn’t seem to be a clear definition of what “modern art” actually is, but for instance, the painting illustrating your post looks quite nice to me… It doesn’t convey any deep message or stir any particular emotion in me, but it would decorate a corner of my house rather well… though certainly not a prominent spot in the living room!
Not long ago I think I saw a banana, and I mean a perfectly ordinary supermarket one, taped to a canvas with duct tape, and honestly, I wouldn’t hang that even in a toilet… especially once the banana starts to go brown!
I prefer music: I understand beat, rhythm and harmonies.
And I can tap my feet and sing along. 🤗

When it comes to art, I am a traditionalist. I need help with "abstract" and some modern art. Art is such a personal thing, isn't it? 🤔
Music, on the other hand, is an art form where I am more comfortable. Of course, what I like is not necessarily what others might enjoy. Something NEW and worthy. Give her a listen. 😎
