The crisp Montreal night sparkled across a moonless sky, our little corner of the planet wrapped in its own quiet rhythm while a peaceful buzz numbed our brains. Deborah waited for my answer. We were in her hot tub, sharing a joint, sipping pina coladas and playing a silly game we'd occasionally enjoy — famous actors from a city: we had chosen Los Angeles.
I had to think briefly before blurting, "Marilyn Monroe."
"Ooo, that's probably THE most famous one," Deborah admitted. "OK, my turn; Leonardo DiCaprio."
"Good one," I acknowledged with a smile. "I'm running outta names. How about Angelina Jolie."
"Paul, you can't be running out of names, we just started," she laughed. "Jennifer Aniston," Deborah quickly replied.
"Hmmm, I forgot about her. Blake Lively."
"I thought she was from Seattle?"
"No, she's from Los Angeles. Your turn, and stop stalling." I laughed.
"Kate Hudson," came her response as Deborah coughed up a puff of smoke and passed me the lit spliff.
I hadn't been paying attention and watched as that tiny lit ash fell from her fingers into the bubbles of our tub... and disappeared. We both began to laugh.
Deborah snuggled up to me and reached below the jets, brushing her hand against my leg. "Enough famous trivia," she whispered. "Let's play another game," she suggested.
I couldn't agree more.
The bubbles rose, the night deepened... the stars kept their own secrets.

Probably not the answer you were thinking would pop up, but a girl from my high school graduating class was Selena Steele, porn star. She never came to any reunions, which was too bad. We wouldn't have stared...much.
I did look it up, La Mirada, CA is where I'm from. G**gle has a list of people it says are famous. I don't know any of them. But Selena...that's a different story.

My band played on so many nights where we thought WE were famous.

While there are a lot of famous people from Detroit, it isn't technically my home town. So, I had to do a Googie search ... Andrew Jackson Poppleton born in Troy, MI was the second mayor of Omaha, Nebraska and Steven Yeun was in the TV series The Walking Dead. I didn't go to school with either of them.

Famous people: you can't tell when you meet them or pass them... unless they're already famous.
But I've met musicians who I knew would make it. Crazy to see unharnessed talent. I felt privileged.
