Guess that can be true in some cases Paul, that a Band could get a new "lead singer", and it could even be an improvement, but right now I'm thinking of a fav singer/songwriter I've always enjoyed plus he was excellent on stage, and due to illness he can no longer go on tour and perform - nope in his case, and even though he has a great band - without him it just wouldn't work.
I've listened to bands whose style was so unique with their original lead singer; they had no hope of ever replacing him without changing their sound completely. And occasionally, that worked. Genesis is one example.
It's too bad the band you liked couldn't do the same. 🤗
Was never a big fan of theirs, but have to say to me her vocals are a improvement
.
Tastes vary, depending on the mood.
Glad to see you in this one. 😂👍
I am not a huge fan of theirs but am loving her vocals on this one Hun..I was going to post on AC/DC here when Brian Johnson joined the group after Bon Scott died but see muf, beat me to that one..lol. xoxo
As you probably read down below amongst the other comments, there are a ton of bands who changed their lead singers. Not always for the better. 😲😂
We changed the lead singer in my band. OMG, the drama. Lol... 😂
Our lead singer was giving up and moving to Toronto for school. Nobody knew the NEW guy, but he was our bass player's buddy. Turns out this NEW guy was studying "classical voice" at McGill University. F ** K — what a voice on that guy!
Not at ALL compatible with our playlist, though. We had to train him reelee hard not to overdo the "vibrato" and "tremelo" on every single song. He got the hang of it after a while, and WE changed up our repertoire and added Engleburt, Sinatra and other great crooners. It worked out for everyone — except our OLD lead singer.
Turns out school wasn't his thing, and he wanted to come back. "Oops. Too late." 😲
@hippiechick1967
Yep... Sounds about right. Lol... 😲😂
No egos in MY band, but man... did we have some interesting fights and arguments. The guitarist and his brother had a fistfight backstage before a gig, right in front of the organizer, who panicked when he saw what was going on. I had to reassure him. "Nah. This happens all the time. It's their way of getting pumped up." What a fricken scream. Lol... 😂
We "killed" it that night: everyone was on their best behavior.😎😲
@hippiechick1967
I'd love to see those clips. 🤗
Nobody can hold a candle to Chester. Greatest vocalist EVER.
I won't argue with THAT assessment.
But... there are so many talented voices out there. Lol... 😂
I feel that some singers just fit perfectly with the music the band played.
Yes... Chester was in a league of his own.👍
This one always caught my ears; his voice is crystal.
It's incredible singer love
A talented voice is a pleasure to listen to. 👍
There are so many. I'll focus on one of my favorites though.
While Jeff Gutt and Chester Bennington brought their own energy and style to this band, it's impossible for me to say that they captured the vibe of the original singer.
Chester, while I believe was very innovated and talented, was just simply out of his element. And Jeff may be a talented vocalist, but he tries too hard to mimic Scott, which IMHO, just makes his performances all the more lackluster.
I have so many videos I could insert here for comparison, but I don't wanna hijack your post, lol. Here's an oldie, but a goodie from the OG.
Scott’s charisma, his ability to effortlessly blend angst with melodic beauty, made STP’s sound iconic. His voice was raw, emotional, and unpredictable, which is part of what made their music so compelling.
R.I.P. Scott and Chester 🙏💞🤘
Thanks for the clip and the insight. 👍
This post of mine wasn't very well thought out. I should have chosen three bands, featured six videos (before vs after), and then asked for opinions. But I got lazy: it's Saturday night, and I was just in the mood for something loud. I stumbled on that video and...
Yeah... I'll do a better job next time.😂
Feel free to hijack.
My neighbours are all sound asleep, so I'm sure it'll be fine. 😶
@Paulxx001
Hey, no worries. Sometimes it's the short, simple posts that are the most impactful.
This one was fun for me❣️🥰🤗
@Paulxx001
Jeff Gutt...😐
Chester....🙂
Scott....🤘🎸🥰
💞
You said it was cool right? 🤣
@4playlist_Sugswt
Interesting...
I can hear what you mean when comparing their different styles. I like STP, so I would cheer ALL those lead men. 😂👍
Thanks for this mini-playlist. 💕
@mufdiver69er2
Kudos for introducing your daughter to iconic bands like STP.
🙂👍🏻
Their music had such an emotional pull, with those soulful vocals and unforgettable melodies. Do you have a favorite STP song or album?
This is a subject way beyond my knowledge base.
I guess if you were to have followed a group, you might have noticed. I've been in bands where we changed our lead singer, and OMG, what a traumatic experience. Lol... 😂
It's something I find interesting: comparing the vocal styles of singers who replace other singers. They are not better or worse, just different.
@Paulxx001 I'm aware that members change in a band but I don't really pay attention to who is in a group ... just whether or not I like the song. And you shared some good ones.
They definitely have rhythm!
I didn't know them.
This was their biggest hit. It might not be your style of music.
I found their sound alluring.
@Paulxx001 Thanks 😘
Classic ?
True. Alternative new-metal. Labels. 😶
I realized the fuck-up but it was too late to change the post.
Good eye. 👍
I got lazy here. I could have listed a couple of dozen bands who changed their "lead" singers: Genesis, Fleetwood Mac, Journey and others.
This live version is tight... harmonies are spot-on... Steve's voice is gold...
Foreigner and Van Halen has changed their lead singer a couple times
@jdlover221
When I start going through the list of bands that changed their "leads," itZ nuts. I think the later in a band's career, the less people care. And then, NEW memories are formed. 👍
@mufdiver69er2
If I was a pro, and motivated, I would have listed dozens, with examples. Fuck that. Who's got the time?
@mufdiver69er2
I should plan these things out more. Lol... 😂
Cheers. 🥃🥃
@mufdiver69er2 @hippiechick1967
Eight in the morning here and still going strong.
Sleep... is irrelevant. 😲
@hippiechick1967
Yes.
