Let me say this... in my defence.
First of all, my overly sensitive and vindictive neighbour is going through a vicious divorce. I've heard him yelling in the parking lot as SHE piles the kidZ into her car and zooms away. Second, HE is only leasing that condo short-term (and he's out of there this month), so screw him. Third, he's an asshole and drives a Tesla.
By the way, his ex-wife is extremely HOT. If I was 'divorce-guy,' I might be pissed off at the planet and perpetually angry as well. Just saying...
... this is how I imagined his EX would look in a bedroom...
In any case, and with all due respect in trying to be a decent human being, I did NOT raise the volume of my sound system to piss anyone off on purpose. I was downstairs in the kitchen and had chosen a random "u -tubE" playlist — when a song came up. Obviously, people don't balance the volume on those sets. Oven mitts held a roast chicken when, to my horror, that song kicked in... at TWICE the volume of all previous tunes.
I knew I'd be in trouble — 'divorce-guy' was home.
It couldn't have taken me very long to — gently put down my sizzling honey-garlic chicken, gingerly reach for the bubbling (and perfectly browned) casserole of scalloped potatoes, place that cookie tray of garlic bread 'au gratin' on broil, and — rush upstairs for my volume controls. It was too late. I knew my nitpicky frustrated neighbour, had probably made the call. He's done it before.
I waited for the authorities to arrive while closely monitoring my garlic bread. But then I thought to myself, "What the heck? I might as well play the rest of that —'too loud'— song, and perhaps a few others."
And yes, I changed things up by choosing several wonderfully melodic ballads and a handful of reelee touching love songs. I hoped 'divorce-guy' would appreciate them as I balanced the treble.
The knock on my door was, as I said, expected. The two officers played their roles to perfection. This time, the male was the good cop, and the female played the bad one. That movie cliché is true. After a somewhat brief discussion and many apologies, including an invitation ( ...bribery attempt... ) to sample my savoury chicken, they gave me a stern warning. And off they went, on another call.
"Whew..." I thought to myself. I was lucky and I've vowed to change. I will never make the mistake of choosing a playlist without being able to supervise the volume.
And listen, I tried being friendly and talking with 'divorce-guy,' but he was inconsolable. I get it. Some of us have been there and understand. Each of us, handle life's challenges in our own way.
On another note, the Condo Committee has already informed me they've vetted my new neighbours. Supposedly, I'll be pleased.
I guess that means they like good music. 😊

I was drawn to this tune (and video) when it first came out three years ago. The genre is "Dance-pop deep house," and if this song doesn't get your feet tapping, I don't know what will. Jack up the volume to eleven and start dancing. As a side note, the video is dark, with a splash of morbid humour thrown in. 😂

I had an upstairs neighbor that fought with her bf almost every weekend ... at 3 am. The ceiling-broom-rap did nothing. One day, I left a note on her door saying that I was sure she didn't know how much sound traveled through the vent and that I had connections if she wanted the name of a good marriage counselor.
I'm very noise sensitive so I never have anything blasting.
This place is sound-proofed: I rarely hear neighbours. Unfortunately, the concrete floor is an excellent conductor of bass notes, so one has to be mindful. I rarely raise the volume for longer than a song.
