I wrote this post this morning but it seems I failed to hit post so it did not. Here it is again.
Diane picked me up this morning at about 11am and we went to one of our favorite brunch places to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the day we met. We lucked out as the heavy rain waited till we got inside and mostly quit by the time we left to go on a bit of a ramble. Decided to go to this antique mall that has so many lovely items that are a joy to just look at. Unfortunately, the cleaning supplies they use are heavily scented and made her feel ill to we left there and went for a bit if a car ramble. She dropped me off at home about a half hour ago as she was still not feeling well.
Tuesday we are heading down to the Amana Colonies in Iowa for three days and two nights. That should be fun. Well, any time I spend with Diane is fun. I do not expect to post for this weeks HNW unless I manage to get some pictures for a belated Games theme and post it for a delayed release.
Now about that growing succulent. About 5 or 6 days ago I noticed that plant I keep in the east window had started sending up a stem with what looked like buds on the top. Two days ago I mentioned to Diane that the stem had grown to be about 18 inches long and was putting out a side stem too so she asked me to take a picture of it. I took a few of it sitting in the window but they did not show it well. The back lighting was too bright with not enough contrast to show a good view of the growing flower stem. So I thought that the dark screen of the TV would make for a good backdrop but did not think of how it would also act sort of like a mirror.
This shot was the last one I took as I thought I as I would be keeping it on my phone to show Diane I would prefer have one not showing me in my usual lack of clothes. I thought the image of the plant turned out well.
This is one of the earlier images and one where I tried to be a wee bit discreet and hide one of the succulents.
The I thought what the heck, might as well post one showing a bit of a different view of succulent growth. Don't want to get boring.
It has turned into a beautiful late afternoon and evening. I may put on some running shorts and a top and wander over by the lake for a bit. Hope you all have a lovely new week and if you do get a few thunderstorms may they not cause any damage.

Great shots! My kitchen looks like a jungle, so I understand the love of plants. Congrats on 5 years with someone you have fun with!!
Thank you. I only have that one plant and it is a succulent because any other kind I have had slowly died.
We both think part of the reason we have made it for 5 years is not living together plus we truly seem to get and accept who the other is.

What an unusual shoot coming out of that plant. I've had no luck with succulents. At some point I always screw up and give it too much water, and it explodes and dies.
Whatever your succulent is sitting on looks exactly like my lateral file cabinet from Room and Board.
I found that shoot rather interesting too. It has developed a side shoot and some of the flower buds have opened. Will have to see if I can get a descent picture of its progress.
Sorry to hear you have trouble wit succulents. I had that problem for some time before I learned to not water them till they started to look a bit wilted.
That is a lateral file I bought from Techline when I worked there. Got it cheap as the lower file front had some damage. I made the the swivel shelf the TV is sitting on as the legs were too wide to sit on the cabinet.

@justskin1 that sounds right, I want to think that my file cabinet was a Techline too. It has served me well.
@smartasswoman I worked at Techline for 8 years. I thought they made good stuff.
What a lovely way to celebrate five years together! Your outings always sound so thoughtful and full of happiness. Wishing Diane a quick recovery so she can enjoy the upcoming road trip.
That was a lovely day and Diane did recover quickly so it did not affect our Amana trip. Diane and I always have a great time when together. That trip and posting about it did delay my response to this comment. Now to catch up on things posted by those I follow.

Such a tall shoot for such a small succulent. I hope you will keep us posted on its progress.

It certainly is surprising how tall a shoot some succulents put out. It has since grown a side shoot and some of the buds have opened. I hope to get few descent pictures of it's progress that are worth posting now that I am back from Amana and have posted on that. Then I need to try to catch up on your and all the other posts I follow.

I think I'm going to have to travel to WI just to teach you how to crop pictures! Though I do like the second picture where you are using the succulent to hide the suckulent!
I rather liked the second picture best. As for the picture cropping I did not crop anything on the right and the last picture I was sorry to say I did not get more of my upper body in the frame.
I would love to have you show up Wisconsin to teach me now to better crop my pictures or just to see you again.
