I once thought crossroads were obvious—marked by grand decisions, moments of clarity. But I learned they were often quiet, hidden in choices that didn’t seem significant at the time.
I had a friend, once. A friendship built on shared thoughts, long conversations, and an assumed trust. But small moments began to chip away at that trust—comments that felt off, actions that left shadows of unease. Then came the blog post, one that used my real name, my city, woven into a story I never asked to be part of. I asked for a change, a simple request, but was met with resistance. It was then I saw the crossroads—the one I hadn’t realized I had been approaching for some time.
It wasn’t dramatic. No confrontation, no shouting match. Just a quiet decision: to step away. To choose distance over discomfort, silence over conflict.
Sometimes, the most important crossroads aren't about choosing between two roads. Sometimes, they’re about recognizing that a path is ending, and walking away before it leads somewhere you shouldn’t follow.

You are right that often the signs are subtle and so you happen onto an off-ramp not a clear turning point. If you notice it early enough you may be able to merge back the road and away from a mire.
@justskin1 Life’s detours aren’t always marked with flashing signs—sometimes they’re just slight shifts that we only recognize in hindsight. But as you said, if we catch them early enough, we can adjust and steer ourselves in a better direction.

@sexyldy1000 I have many times and have listened to my gut feeling and followed that. It has protected me. When I have not followed my gut has bit me in the butt.
