Bonne fête du Canada!
Today is Canada Day. It is a federal, statutory holiday. The July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act (now known as the Constitution Act, 1867) was a pivotal moment in our history. It united the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia into the Dominion of Canada. Since then, we’ve grown into a nation with a unique identity and a commitment to multiculturalism.
I love my vast and beautiful country. From the rugged Rocky Mountains in the west to the serene Maritime provinces in the east, our landscapes are incredibly diverse. And let’s not forget the stunning Northern Lights visible in the Arctic regions. Did you know, with a land mass of 9.98 Million Sq Kilometres, Canada is the world's second-largest country by total area.
Canadian inventors have left their mark on the world. Here is just a small list of things we are famous for:
Canada Day is a time to reflect on our past, celebrate our present, and look forward to our future.

@Paulxx001 No doubt you recognize the last pic… Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré which I visited last year. When I was in grade school, an ill friend was taken there to be blessed and she is still thriving!

@PonyGirl1965 I was born here and there are still many parts of Canada that I haven’t seen. Our border crossings are easily accessible and you would be welcomed with open arms 😊

I was lucky enough to drive to Calgary, then thru Banff, Glacier National Park all the way to Vancouver. I hope to visit again!

Living most of my life in SE Michigan, Canada Day and America's Independence Day were a huge international party in Detroit and Windsor. School field trips to Stratford-on-Avon to see Shakespeare plays on stage, cutting through Ontario (Port Huron/Sarnia - Niagara/Buffalo) to go to New England ... plus Windsor had a male strip club! Good memories of a good neighbor.

There's a huge party down by the lakeshore that I'll pop into later.
If I don't get jostled too much, I might even hang around for the fireworks later in the evening. Enjoy the celebrations in your part of our Great White North.

@Paulxx001 I love fireworks 💥 but not the crowds. Local bylaws also restrict fireworks on private property to the actual holiday; no doubt there will be some surrounding me tonight. I will flip on the broadcast from our nation’s capital. They often put on a good show. The RCAF are celebrating their centenary with a flypast, being called a “parade in the sky,” which will include a variety of RCAF aircraft at 1:00 pm.
Canada is a great country.
