One of my favourite songs about how things change over your life:
Also generation that discovered sex with neighbors not on internet
Show me yours I’ll show you mine 😁
One of the rural tv stations down near the lake still plays the national anthem when the local programs are done for the night. After that you get the reruns and infomercials.
I always paused what I was doing and watched the video they played during the anthem. Flags. Kids in wheat fields or among flowers. Babies. It reminded me so much of childhood.
@PonyGirl1965 I remember when the main national TV station would do the same thing. At all hockey rinks, there was a large portrait of Queen Elizabeth and everyone would turn towards it when the national anthem was played.
Your memes reflect a truth that was a comforting reality for many of us back then. Those were simpler times.
On the other hand, I welcomed the ease and convenience of creating and managing digital photography and music. Watching anything I want online at any time (without ads) is a real pleasure.
That’s true technology has advantages but as all things comes with price to be paid
@Paulxx001 Of course there are technical advantages that have evolved during our lifetime. And I was not suggesting we stay stuck in the past.
If I'd known, I'd have asked some of those days to slow down.
Couldn't read the yellow one. Clicking on it didn't make it bigger. I'll have to see if it is more cooperative on my phone. Age is not just a number, but it also doesn't always matter. I've been with younger men that were mature for their age and we had a fair bit in common and I've been with older men that were very immature for their age and frustrated me because of how flaky they were. Every morning when I get up, I feel my entire 50 years and sometimes when having sex too long in the same position. I don't do SC because my kids do and I don't want them to accidentally find out what I might use it for outside of keeping in touch with them. I feel fortunate to have grown up solidly between "old school" and "new tech" so that I've benefited from the best of both.
@CL_Love You raise a good point that it's important to remember that age differences in relationships are subjective and depend on the individuals involved. Thank you for sharing your perspective.
A reason age is important in a lover is the shared experiences and the feel of what was happening. A younger person may read about it bit that is not the same.
A good collection of things past never to return. I wonder what our kids and grandkids will look back on with nostalgia that they are gone.
Hugs!
True!
I love this post! I can totally identify with everything in the post, and it brings up sop many fond memories! Although I must admit it has probably been more than 40 years since I actually wrote anything in cursive, other than my signature.
@IAGuy47 It has been interesting to see how it’s sparked an assortment of memories for others.
@sexyldy1000 - thank you for posting it! I love my age and truly love and appreciate others of my generation, whether friends or lovers or both!
My friends and I would get together and read and exchange comic books. In the summer we would get on our bikes and ride them to a the National food store and buy a ice cold watermelon. Then take it to the Italian restaurant next door to National to have it sliced by the chef whom my dad knew. We then sit behind the restaurant and eat it. When we were stuffed we rode back home.
Or we would sit under the two Mable trees in my front yard and wait for the milkman to stop and give each of us big chunks of ice . There was nothing better on a hot summer day. Kids today do not know of the independence we had.
@jc_powerman All the kids on the street would play until the street lights came on. And if you dared misbehave, any of the parents would give you 'what for'.
@sexyldy1000 , when it got dark we would get glass jars and collected fireflies during the summer. We would see whom collected the most and before we went to bed and then release them before we did. Those were fun times.😁
I still buy vinyl albums

As a kid, I loved walking or biking to friends houses.
Reading that list made me a little nostalgic.
@resant78 Vinyl albums have been making a big comeback here. All the kids on the street hung out together.
So very true. And gone also are the values that were instilled in us.
@1salesman3 I remember when on a bus or subway, others would get up and offer their seat. Today, even though there are designated priority seating areas, they are usually occupied by others who sit with their heads down staring at their cell phone.
Age does matter, anybody who doesn’t believe our physical abilities diminish with it, is delusional … mentally you can still outperform your younger self, until dementia sets in that is!
On a sillier note .. there has been a rash of profiles from supposedly young ladies who profess they are ‘looking for a matured man’ … does a matured man smell like stinky cheese or a 25 year old malt whiskey I wonder?
@OldSaltySeaman The same is happening with the young bucks who have ‘always wanted to be with an older woman’ and ones who comment, ‘you look good for your age’ 🤔
And our generation played board games and not video games!
And those just slightly younger got the benefit of both! I played a lot of board games, but also had a few Atari games (my stepbrother's console - Jungle Hunt was my favorite) and my dad later got a Nintendo because he liked Duck Hunt and I played a little bit of Super Mario Bros on it.
Well I never, you’re back! Just in the nick of time as my burgeoning porn career has stalled terribly in your absence …..
@CL_Love True. I loved Pac-Man. I suspect the younger generation will write similar posts when they get older!
@OldSaltySeaman I managed to wheedle myself back with a lot of help from others especially from the other three exiles. Only two are allowed back, to be fair only two wanted back. And I only wanted back to retrieve some blog posts.
@OldSaltySeaman I'm going to test things here. I can say I was banned and I can say I was resurrected. But up to now I haven't been able to say I was innocent because I received an apology from the site despite six weeks of exile.
@OldSaltySeaman There was a purge, and I was purged.
@OldSaltySeaman Like you, I thought I was unemployable as a porn star for the last few weeks.
@OldSaltySeaman I'm doing it this way, multiple replies to your reply, in the hope that some may make it through the review process.
@OldSaltySeaman We, the banned exiles, were blamed for standards not upgrading to gold. As if the site had nothing to do with those decisions!
@OldSaltySeaman I'm now relying on Tier 1, the reviewers, being disconnected from Tier 2, to allow all or at least some of my replies through to you!
@spunkycumfun well I received 7 replies …. if I’m reading you right you’re going to disappear again which is a shame as you’ve been missed and will be missed. If that’s the case thanks for the entertainment and best wishes going forward … also best wishes to the other reprobates. I also hope your domestic issues with the step son have been resolved.
@OldSaltySeaman I'm going to lurk for a while here.
My stepson has moved out again, so all is quiet on the domestic front.
@mufdiver69er2 As well as table football, I used to play a lot of Subbuteo - flick to kick!
@CL_Love My kids loved Nintendo!
The best part of our generation... priceless!!
Ever get tired of hearing, ‘age is just a number’? It seems to have come up a lot lately, which is what prompted this post.
I am supremely tired of that phrase. I point out things like odometers and IQs that are also "just" numbers.
@superbjversion2 Great responses! I will have to remember those😊
All of your examples are currently missing. I'll check back later.
@superbjversion2 I should know not to edit when it’s still getting comments.
@sexyldy1000 I'm back and so are your pictures. I really, really relate to that last one.
@superbjversion2 I do too!
I think the gremlins got what ever it was you were
trying to share with us.
I hope your Monday is a great start to your new week..
@Tmptrzz The memes should reappear. I was messing around with editing.
Some great memories in this post !
@ClassicRock2015 No doubt you could put a Canadian twist on them too.
