My Friday was a mess. Literally.
Cowboy headed out for a weekend of riding UTV's with one of our sons and a bunch of friends.
I planned on making myself some gingerbread bars. I was gathering all the ingredients and could not find my ground ginger. I got the stepladder and took everything off of 2 shelves in the cabinet. I sorted out some things to trash. A few things to donate. No ginger though. Weird. I always have ginger.
I had found a few clean, empty canning jars and decided while I had the stepladder out that I would put them up in the pantry. They are on the highest shelf. I was rearranging one of the boxes when another box decided to make a jump for it. Literally. I wasn't touching it. It sits in that same spot for years while jars go in or out. Today it fled the scene.
To the floor 7 feet down.
While it was full of glass jars.
Oh my word.
Glass everywhere! I told the dogs to STAY!! There was nowhere near me they could move. I climbed back down the ladder and got the broom to clear a path. Then the dogs got banished to one of the yards. Not one of them had even a spot of blood that I could find.
I spent the next hour sweeping. Using the shop vac. More sweeping. And more shop vac. Dog water bowl had to be poured out, glass removed, scrubbed and refilled. I was surprised that not all of the jars shattered. Finally, finally, I felt the floor was safe.
By this time, I was dripping sweat and exhausted. I decided I would just make chocolate chip bars. I got the dough going and while putting up ingredients, I found some ginger. Oh fiddlesticks. I had apparently bought a bigger jar of the organic stuff. It was on the opposite side of the spice cabinet. I felt really dumb. And it was too late to make gingerbread bars. I had already started the chocolate ones. Sighsss ...
All is well. The chocolate chip bars are crisp outside and gooey inside. While they baked I started making my dinner, egg roll in a bowl. Me and the dogs are fine. Life is good.

Ohmygoodness! Glad no one was seriously injured by the glass!
I don't know what's worse. I had a jug of laundry detergent vibrate off the washer and break open....what a sudsy mess....there is no easy way to clean that up.
That sounds like a nightmare!!! Worse than the glass. You can mop and mop and still the floor is slippery!

Your pantry adventure reads like a suspense novel — glad the dogs came through unscathed, and honestly, chocolate chip bars sound like the perfect consolation prize.

Yeah! The last few days have been quirky with mishaps for my fam too!!! How weird.
Hate it when that happens. A few months back I was digging around in an upper cupboard and somehow one of the shelves tilted - two big ceramic serving bowls and a nice marble cheese plate fell to the floor and smashed.
Glad you were able to get it all cleaned up without the pups stepping on it.
Oh no! Losing serving pieces is miserable. I'm so sorry.

Hello Pony Luv, I'm glad to hear that you and the puppies are ok. Sometimes things just feel the need to test gravity, right?
It's a cool drizzley day here in Sin City. Next week I will be working the F1 race here. Currently I'm stationed in front of the Bellagio, it could be a fun time.

I am so sorry that happened to you, it sucks when we forget we bought something new and bigger and can't find what we are looking for. But I am glad you finally found your ginger hun and your able to make your gingerbread bars as they sound delicious.

Broken glass seems to get everywhere. At least it's cleaned up and safe now.

The tile was chosen to hide the dirt we all track in. Who knew glass would disappear on it too? LOL

So frustrating when something like that happens. The clean up time is no fun. Also frustrating when you know have something and can't find and go back later and was there all the time, just looking over it or the friendly ghost was moving it and playing tricks on me. Have a blessed weekend...Hugs

Chocolate chip and ginger bars sound delightful. Messes and Oops do happen. Good able to clean up without any significant injuries
