My caring bible group

On Friday night I went out for my bible group meeting, this is the last 2nd meeting for 2024. Next month we will have a combined meeting for Thanksgiving before X'mas. So of course I wanted to attend.

But my group member WK messaged me he was still away on a business trip and might be late upon reaching SG and not able to fetch me. He also informed this time the group meeting will be held at his home. I said no problem as I will arrange my own transport. As none of my tenants was around, I decided to use my walking stick and slowly ventured there instead of my wheelchair.

I took a Grab ride to the condo and tried to find my way to the unit. But it was a far walk inside the estate and as it was raining, I was told by the security to use the basement car park to walk over to the next block. Upon exiting the lift into the car park area, I was immediately hit by the lack of air in there. So stuffy and full of the engine smell. Fortunately my group member was reaching his home too and asked me to wait, so he can picked me up in the cab he took from Changi airport.

When we dropped at his block basement lobby, 4 other members reached at the same time too and helped to carry his load of Vietnamese stuffs from the cab boot. I had a fun time trying out Vietnamese 'Chicken no escape' (gà bó xôi) that WK brought back from his business trip to share for our fellowship after the bible study. Quite an interesting taste to eat with all the other healthy side condiments.

After the night ended, another member AG told me to wait as she will send me home. She said that she cannot handle my wheelchair alone with me. But since she saw that I came with the walking stick, she can send me home. I understand too, not everyone is that strong to handle carrying a wheelchair or wheeling me who is plus size, especially Asian ladies are not that physical able to handle load like this.

As we step back into the stuffy basement to get the car, I can barely walked half the distance before I asked to catch my breathe. The other members were nice and the leader asked AG to go ahead to drive her car to our location, then I got on and bid goodbye to the rest.

It was nice catching up with AG as I did initially thought she was turned off from sending me after our last trip with my Hubby in tow. I also told her I have a new electric wheelchair but the problem now with the year end rainy reason, my occupational therapist had warned me not to use it when raining for fear of electric shock or stalled in the puddles. I was even thinking of holding one umbrella in one hand while controlling my device with the other. That's too dangerous she said in this weather. She said try to see if there's other options since I still need to go church in person every week to fulfill the requirements for next year bible school.

Anyway, she send me to the lift and after I exited at the upper level, she bid goodbye and I slowly walked the long corridor to the end of the block and went down 2 flight of stairs to my level. So tired but glad to be home. Since I had some Vietnamese food, I skipped my late dinner and went to bed. The chicken was tough but still quite an eye opener for me to learn about other culture food.
