Helping Others

Recently my older Malay medical escort told me his house's lights are spoiled. He asked for quotation outside but they're charging quite expensive. I told him my engineer can help. But knowing this older escort don't earn much, he waited till the government payout is out yesterday before approaching me again, asking if my engineer can charge him lesser. His kitchen has no light for awhile already.

I told him no worries, my engineer is very kind hearted and don't mind helping elder folks like him. So yesterday my engineer went over, and repair simple lightings for him plus checking all the wirings to make sure no danger of leaked electricity.

He was so happy and wanted to pay my engineer more but my engineer only insisted to take a small token sum. Now he said he also wanted my engineer to help him to install 2 ceiling fans as weather is getting so hot. With no fans or aircon, it's hard for the older escort and his wife to sleep at nights too. I told him to go use the climate voucher to get them. It's good to teach the older folks to use the government schemes to cut cost too.

I also told my China engineer to video call me anytime if they have language barrier issue. I don't earn any money from this but I'm happy to help whenever I can. To me, this is part of the DO GOOD project I have been doing with my engineer for awhile now. And last week I smiled when my church also started a DIY ministry similar to my idea to help the needy with their home improvement too. We need a more caring society where people look out for others instead of being self-centred all the time.
