Mothering's Love

"Groom emotional after butterfly believed to be deceased granny lands on his coat"... the video caption grabbed my attention while I was scrolling through my News Feed yesterday. Then I watched and closed my phone quickly as my medical escort was here to fetch me for my dialysis session in a hurry.

Today is Mothers' Day...

Recalling the brief video I saw in a rush, I goggled for it. Here's a bridegroom on his wedding day, saying his Grandmother has already passed away. But he sent out an invitation in his chat a week prior to his Grandmother, that he wish his Grandmother will come to his wedding. He asked her to come as a butterfly and land on his shoulder if she is willing, and stay a bit longer coz he misses her.

As he shared on the stage for his wedding day, a white butterfly really appeared... circling him before landing on his suit... on his shoulder... and near to his heart. He broke down in tears... so did I when I saw the video clip yesterday. I even saw the app texts he wrote to his Grandmother.

Some might say maybe the butterfly was attracted to the pinned flower corset on his suit. But in Asian culture, we have a belief that our loved ones that passed on will come visit us in the form of a butterfly or moth.

To my Hubby, he was brought up by his Grandma till he was 18 years old. So his mothering figure/primary caregiver was actually his Grandma, whom Hubby has a good relationship with, being her favourite Grandson. Hubby will tell me Grandma used to predict to him he will marry a plump gal to be his wife. Haha! So cute, Grandma! She wants her favourite Grandson to find a Foodie wife to feed him well for life. Lol... 😅

Mothers' Love knows no bounds... when my Elder Bro passed away... there were 1 super big & 1 large moths at the funeral parlour. Usually we believe that the person that passed on will come back to see the family one more time. I believe the other big moth was my Mother coming to fetch Elder Bro, whom was her favourite child too. Knowing how close Elder Bro was with Mum, Elder Bro's family also choose to put him with Mum at the same temple's columbarium to be reunited.

For those whose mothering figures are still alive this day, do make efforts to spend time with them for the loves they have shown to you. I have wished my Godma Happy Mothers' Day yesterday through call and was pondering on visiting her, but she also concernedly told me to rest from my post op first till I'm better.

As what my church sermon on Mothers' Day was:

Ephesians 6:1-4 New King James Version (NKJV)
“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”

Honestly, I could have died 12 years ago from the stingray incident... or only has 5 years survival rate as told by the ward cardiologist. But now it is my 12th year beyond the expectation, I choose to think my parents are up there cheering me ON to live long on this earth from beyond the graves.

Isn't it amazing that their loves for a child can cross all boundaries just to send the loving message across to reach him or her too? Awwwww... 🥰🥰🥰 Do your culture have similar beliefs?
