I have been watching winter camping videos as my current relaxing hobby... at first the Korea videos on Glamping were interesting as the different content creators will show off different hot tents & various gadgets for the comfort of camping outdoor. But it get boring after awhile as they were just promoting for the different camp equipment suppliers. Too commercial feels to that... although some of the campers will enhance their videos by bringing cute small doggies, but again... these doggies are mainly toy dogs... just for the sake of attraction... not really for protection or hunting.
Maybe it's the wild child in me? I preferred watching manly men doing what men do... showing off their survival skills using the knowledge and understanding of the natural surrounding to create shelters for survival. I was amazed by this channel creator 'RAMIZ IN THE WILD' with his crafty creations of shelters in different forms. Or the fact he knows how show the public the various ways to acquire drinking water through natural methods, which will be really helpful in extreme survival.
And some of the men also bringing big sized dogs with them for these camps, as the dogs can warned off danger (when predators approach), keep the owners warm in cold weather, even act as hunting dogs to fetch the preys the owners shoot, etc. One of the most beautiful dogs I saw was from this channel 'Meush Outdoor', whom the owner named his dog 'Hachiko'... maybe after the famous loyal Japanese dog? Such a beauty, I will love to own a dog like that too.
Why I like watching Bushcraft more? Because I learn a lot of new knowledge on basic survival skills from these content creators. They can use all kinda' of natural resources like soil, sand, grass, tree trunk, branches, leaves & even rocks to build the shelters. For those with a bit more budget, they can have plastic or other man-made insulation materials to thicken the covering to keep out the cold & rain/snow. It is so enriching to see how they use multiple materials from man-made & natural to best keep the shelter warm and safe. Especially I'm born and living along the tropical where I never get to experience the 4 seasons, winter survival is something foreign to me. I don't even know how to dress for winter either.
Honestly, I also find Glamping is only for pleasure, for those with the dough to get all the most expensive gadgets to show off a luxurious outbound lifestyle. But when disasters struck, all these gadgets are useless once the fuels or electricity are used up. Even those using mobile vehicles as camping, once the engine oil or important fuel freezes up, the whole vehicle also render useless. I also read about people found dead in their vehicles in winter due to this too.
I'm curious, after seeing all these bushcraft creations... and the content creators left after filming... some of these bushcraft shelters are left there empty. Are others allowed to use them freely when the others get struck in rainstorm or snow in the area? I do see some log cabins in the most coldest areas like Alaska welcoming others to use it... and what the practice seems to be is to top up some firewood inside to leave it for the next person/people in needs.
Being a stage five heart and kidney patient myself, I can only live my life through these adventurous outdoor videos to keep my spirit up. I preferred those with no words or speaking... just the nature sounds in the background while the content creators go about their tasks in building, chopping wood and cooking their meals. It's more relaxing that way than listening to the Korea or some of those channels where they try to hard sell by talking non stop on the reviews of the camping supplies they are using.
Because everyone's taste and requirement can be different too. What taste good to one might be poison to another, so I do not really trust the reviews part, especially on prepacked/processed food or drink they bring to camp. For e.g, a spice lover will say Korea spicy noodles is excellent, but to someone with no tolerance for spicy food, that can cause severe tummy issues if consumed... some can even burnt their inner organs by consuming that spicy noodles.
After my gastric sleeve surgery, I was warned not to eat too spicy or might ended up burning holes in my inner intestines, which can lead to stomach or even colon cancer in the future. So I shy away from spicy food now, even simple local food like prata with curry hurts at time too. So I'm very careful with food choices now.
Due to health, I know Bushcraft camping is not for me as I have low immunity to natural germs & bacteria now. So if I ever go camping, I guess I can only go for Glamping type. But that's so boring, so I just do 'Glamping concept' at home... just sleep overnight in another room for that 'not sleeping in my master bedroom' feels.

I’ve seen some of those videos you mentioned and I thought the same thing, some pretty young girl turns up in a wildly expensive off road vehicle and then proceeds to set up a camp (usually in a dedicated camping area) and amazingly she happens to have every conceivable and brand new piece of camping equipment she would ever need to cook up a delicious meal for herself and pup she has with her. It’s great advertising for the products she highlighting but I would hardly call it camping lol.
I’ve also seen the other videos you mentioned of the the manly man turning up in the middle of nowhere with just a backpack and a dog that looks like a wolf and he proceeds to build a 3 bedroom shelter to live in. Call me cynical but I have some problems believing those ones as well lol.
After 29 years in military and many many “camping” excursions while doing that job and only using what I carry in on my back I’m a bit sceptical of both those types of videos however I can see the entertainment in them. My personal preference these days regarding camping is definitely glamping lol and at my age now I would enjoy a bit of comfort in the wilds lol. And glamping would definitely be of more benefit to what you could eat and remain healthy.

I agreed with you, some of the Bush craft videos of those larger log cabin types will be so tedious to do it alone and within days in the cold winter. I think the main advantage of winter camping is the lack of those pesty bugs. But winter camping survival is really a skill on its own which is quite entertaining for me.
I noticed there's a few type of Glamping videos using Hot tents, which can be filled up with air for insulation purpose. This channel by 'AtikAilesi', a family of three from Turkiye often uses hot tents and also vehicle for camping. I enjoy seeing their drone view of the forests they go to. I think that type of glamping will be more suitable for our age, haha!

My idea of camping these days doesn’t even involve a tent. My kind of glamping would involve one of those recreational vehicles that have a shower, toilet, dining area, AC, kitchen and a big bed. Now that’s the way to glamp lol.
