I have a habit to ask about my other dialysis mates when I don't see them for awhile at the centre. Usually they're away in hospitals for treatments. But last night I asked about a blind dialysis mate whom I know is staying in the nursing home. She has the same medical escort as me so we will chat while waiting for the escort to fetch us home. I have not seen her for over 2 weeks. So I wonder if she's not well and went to the hospital. Start of December

Well, I had a busy Saturday with 2 full meetings and even dialysis... then came Sunday, 1st of December. I prepared breakfast but somehow Hubby started acting up with his mood swings again... so I had to be firm with him to make sure he ate his late breakfast before we can go out for our Sunday event with other wheelchair users from our church. Another surprise

Yesterday's my extended family outing to the beach was canceled due to the heavy rain. So I just told my Eldest nephew to enjoy the changed trip out to Changi Airport Jewel with the whole clan as I am feeling under the weather, and like to rest at home. On Friday night I went out for my bible group meeting, this is the last 2nd meeting for 2024. Next month we will have a combined meeting for Thanksgiving before X'mas. Age old conflicts-Power struggles among the women

Ever since I requested to change my caregiver service in Sept, another community provider has allocated a much older woman SA to my service last month. Even though she's from another faith, she's quite an open and easy going person to work with. She's in her early 60s and her daughter is just 2 years younger than me. Prayer request

I finished completed my first set of 12 weeks course with my online Tuesday morning mental health class yesterday... I can't tell you how relieved I felt after saying goodbye to my co trainers and adult learners. I didn't know I needed to set aside another day per week just to discuss with the co trainer/s on how to conduct the class, so that mean 2 half days per week are out for other things. And honestly, I'm not really paid much for doing freelance work like this. I'm also thinking of their graduation date which the co trainers wanted to do a face to face graduation with the learners for photo taking. But I'm only paid $25 per lesson and for me to fork up $80-$100 to get medical van transportation to get there... I don't think I can afford that...

Restful Sunday

Since I gotten my latest blood result on Tuesday, I also understand partly why I am so fatigue all the time. I need to slowly build up my protein level as well as more regular dosages of IV iron to help with my severe anemia. Plus I'm still in healing mode to wean off all that side effects from the strong antibiotics and painkillers after my gallstone issues, I am still not myself. Protein diet

My dialysis centre just gotten back my latest blood test done just last Sat. This time my protein level is even lower than last month's result. So of course, my concerned senior nurse reminded me to try to eat more protein, even suggested 3 whole boiled eggs a day! I think that's a lot of eggs! Because she said that over time, a lack of protein can make me lose muscle mass, which in turn cuts my strength, makes it harder to keep my balance, and slows down my metabolism. It can also lead to anemia, when my body cells don't get enough oxygen, which makes me so tired all the time. Honestly, I am already severely anemia... requiring IV iron infusion every 10 days. Stress?

Now is past 1am here in SG. What can I say? I had a long busy day... woke up with night terror 24 hours ago... couldn't sleep... worse was my Hubby's non stop farting throughout the night that made me felt suffocated in the air con room. When he woke up at 4am, I ordered his favourite Macdonald doubled fish fillet set with coffee and hashbrown, to make sure he has more than enough to eat. But I did mentioned to him his farts are getting smellier to the point I wanted to vomit... which is true and very disruptive for my sleep too. Night terrors

To be honest, in one of my earlier posts... I mentioned I started having weird side effects from the result of very strong antibiotics to cope with my gallstone issue about a month ago. In order to let the antibiotics work, I have to stop all my other vitamins, iron infusion (I'm anemia), calcium etc till I finished all the 3 weeks plus of meds. Healing process

Due to that gallstone pain and being put on 3 weeks on very strong antibiotics plus strong painkillers, I felt not myself for quite awhile. Well, I have been back to my Homie church since May... slowly adjusting to my old church life that I once did in my youth days. I am happy to be back but I am also need to stop to take heed of the direction being led. I also met another kind therapist who is also serving in another church. A timely reminder for myself

Last Friday was a pretty hot day to be outdoor... I had to travel under the direct sun with no shelter with another wheelchair user friend and his caregiver for over 30 minutes just to make it to the other end of the Garden by the Bay where the function rooms are located for a mental health event. I felt sad to see that my friend just got his leg amputated under the knee. And he just started on dialysis too. So the heat got into him and before our first workshop was over, I saw him slumped in his wheelchair, looking pale and soon unresponsive.
