The following YT story is about a guy who regardless of how popular his songs were, he made it on the charts so many times, with different bands and without truly making it big as the artist on his own.
Despite the heavy US west-coast sound, this song was written by English couple John Carter and his wife Jill Shakespeare at their home in East Sheen, London, proving that they were any match for the likes of John Phillips or Brian Wilson when it came to the surfing sound. The authentic (?) American accent is provided by their good friend and session singer Tony Burrows who recorded it on a mid-winter day in December, 1973. As the music fades out at the end, listen to the French horns fading in, with their sampling of another John Carter tune, "Let's Go to San Francisco".

Me too although I had no clue that it was written by a British couple and one of the singers was British as well. All this time I thought they were Beach Boys wanna be's.

I love going behind the scenes whether it's music, film, politics, sport or whatever.
I find it pretty interesting how many songs and artists are either from Great Britain and have influenced the whole music industry but yet how effectively they pass themselves for sounding American. Yes, you can say they speak the same language but as in the later song I showed. The couple (who were English) who wrote Beach Baby had the British guy who topped the chart with other groups, passed himself off with an American accent.

@spunkycumfun They are so convincing. I am always surprised to actually learn when someone is English when for the longest time, I thought they were American.
